Former Mexican President Vincente Fox wrote:
"If you want to test a man's character, give him power" – Abraham Lincoln. This is the quote the United States must now live by because of the choice they have made. Donald Trump's character will not only be tested, but will serve as a boost for his egocentric and megalomaniac ideas that will take his "beloved nation" to the ground.
Fox’s quote is a prophetic warning to the country that elected Trump to a second term knowing all of his deep character flaws, his never ceasing lies, his promises to destroy the America we know while decrying his victimhood and promising to make “America Great Again”. Trump is not making America Great, he is dismantling it and about to destroy us.
Trump is a sociopath who cannot empathize with anyone, even his closest collaborators who cannot see it because they are blinded by similar hatred as and ambitions, because they are not him. The only person Trump cares about in the world is Trump. He is also a pathological liar who only tells the truth by accident, and even more dangerous he is a megalomaniac obsessed by having absolute power. That power is not just political or economic, but also spiritual, despite the fact that the only one he believes worthy of worship is himself. That was shown this weekend by his posting an AI generated image of him as the Pope and commenting: “I'd like to be pope. That would be my No. 1 choice.”
Certainly some of his political allies, including the erstwhile “faithful Catholics” J.D. Vance and Marco Rubio seem to like the idea, while Senator Lindsey Graham blathered:
"I was excited to hear that President Trump is open to the idea of being the next Pope," he wrote. "This would truly be a dark horse candidate, but I would ask the papal conclave and Catholic faithful to keep an open mind about this possibility! The first Pope-U.S. President combination has many upsides. Watching for white smoke.""
While some think this a joke, it also displays Graham’s pathetic desire for the merger of Trump’s political and spiritual authority as a world leader. It was practically a call for an “Antichrist” type leader.
Most considered Trump’s papal remark as a joke, but such a joke often belies the hidden desires of the people who tell them, especially when they have an unhidden craven desire for absolute power. Trump knows that he cannot ever be elected Pope, but he does want spiritual power over people, which is why he has cozied up the conservative White Evangelical and Catholic Christians and often shows himself surrounded by their fawning leaders. In turn they have shown their loyalty by overwhelming fealty to him, ignoring his blasphemous statements about God, and his sinlessness, such as when he said that he had nothing he needed to be forgiven of, his sexual assaults and rapes, his serial adulterous behavior, his defrauding of almost every benefactor to his businesses, the customers he has cheated and bankrupted, his attempt to overturn an election by an assault on the Congress, his attacks on the judiciary, and his Regime’s attacks on the Constitution, the American people, and people around the world. If saner heads do not prevail his economic policies will destroy the American economy and not just send us into a recession, but a depression if Japan acts on its threat to divest itself of U.S. Bonds, which other nations being attacked by Trump’s tariffs could do. I could go on, but you probably already get the idea.
In 1942, Sophie Scholl, the 22 year old leader of the White Rose resistance movement in Nazi Germany wrote in the 4th pamphlet of the White Rose:
“Every word that comes from Hitler's mouth is a lie. When he says peace, he means war, and when he blasphemously uses the name of the Almighty, he means the power of evil, the fallen angel, Satan. His mouth is the foul-smelling maw of Hell, and his might is at bottom accursed. True, we must conduct a struggle against the National Socialist terrorist state with rational means; but whoever today still doublts the reality, the existence of demonic powers, has failed by a wide margin to understand the metaphysical background of this war. Behind the concrete, the visible events, behind all objective, logical considerations, we find the irrational element: The struggle against the demon, against the servants of the Antichrist.”
Scholl’s observation could well be said of Trump and men like Vance, Rubio, and Graham. There is something almost unearthly, and (I hate to say the word for as some might think me some kind of religious fanatic) “demonic” about their support of Trump, as well as the conservative Christians who have been the core of his base since 2016. There is nothing he has said that they haven’t only absolved him, but fully promote, almost all of which is in opposition to the Christian faith that they claim to believe.
Anthony Eden wrote of of Hitler:
“This man, compounded of mystic and megalomaniac, orator and self-hypnotist, faithless and merciless in pursuit of his aims, was to bring upon his own country, upon Europe and more distant lands, suffering, destruction and death. He was to do worse. In the name of racial purity, he inspired a surge of beastliness unparalleled for centuries.”
So many of Trump and his henchmen’s plans come straight out of the Hitlerian and Nazi playbook that they are hard to ignore.
Anyway. I am tired. I spent much of the weekend writing a paper for my major project in my current doctoral class and I need to work and do a bunch more tomorrow.
All the best, please be safe and watch your six and thank you for your readership and subscriptions.
His megalomania, his desire to destroy the very foundations of our nation, to shred the Constitution is so obvious ... how can it be that so many still sing his praises??? Just today I received the weekly newsletter from my representative in the House, Warren Davidson, who was gushing praise for the madman. Where are the brains? Where are the consciences? Sigh. Beam me up, Scotty! For the first time in my life, I'm glad I'm old. Good post, Padre ... thank you!
Thank you for including the quote from Sophie Scholl. Very sobering. I don't think Trump is the Antichrist, but he has become one of the many minions of evil who have infiltrated our government.
