Charismatic Evangelical Christians Will Be Trump’s Most Loyal MAGA Dead Enders
Deluded by Power and Money Hungry False Prophets they Believe Lies

Pardon me tonight in mixing religion with politics, but over the past decade we have seen Evangelical, Charismatic, and highly reactionary Catholics who despise the current Pope making ad hominem attacks on anyone not supporting President Trump, especially other Christians, of which I remain despite my many doubts.
I finished a long day of teaching and grading yet another Holocaust test and have to be up and about before another long day at school to get my precious Papillon-Dachshund rescue Sunny to surgery for a big bladder stone before work. She was a rescue from Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, found on what became known as “Dead Dog Beach”. She was rescued but her rescue mom couldn’t afford a surgery in 2021 and was going to have our veterinarian put her down, but he asked her if he found her a home who could help would she give Sunny up. Thankfully, she said yes, and we have helped Sunny through all of her trauma. She is Daddy’s baby and has a very happy life. She deserves it.
So on to the article.
I have written about my experiences with such people, their petty vindictive hatred’s towards me and others in the name of Trump, to include one man in my Chapel congregation who made false allegations against me that could have ended up in me being tried by Court Martial on felony charges for a sermon I preached in 2018.
Today I was taking with someone, a well educated Charismatic Christian who could not see the resemblance between Trump and authoritarian leaders throughout history. After listening to him I had to politely excuse myself after he countered any comments with his beliefs in the various “Trump prophecies” and diverting by talking about spurious claims about those who tried to hold Trump accountable to the law. Most of these claims are frequently made by various pro-Trump commentators, but are the grist of many fanatical Charismatic preachers who also claim to be “prophets” or “apostles”.
This mystifies me because this person is not a racist, is not antisemitic in any way, and shows Christian love to anyone that I have seen him interact with, cannot see the trap that he has fallen into. But, because he has swallowed the intellectual and spiritual poisons of the American Right Wing, especially the Religious Right, he cannot judge Trump’s actions and words in light of any legitimate Christian teachings, but rather on spurious prophecies and so called “words of knowledge”. Having been part of such churches in the 1980s, 90s, and early 2000’s I know them and their teachings well.
The leader of the Reformation in Germany, Martin Luther referred to the false prophets of his day as Schwärmer, which can be interpreted as enthusiast, zealot or dreamer, which we might interpret as fanatic. His condemnation of such people was rooted their behaviors, lawlessness and misuse of Scripture. Luther, despite being the man who began the Protestant Reformation is still a controversial figure, not in the least because of his personal antisemitism which, along with historical Catholic antisemitism was part of many German’s religious sympathy for the Nazis. Luther was certainly an often coarse and profane man with many prejudices. However, one thing he could identify were people using spurious prophecies to drive people to violence as happened during the Peasant’s revolt, which was met with the combined force of Catholic and Lutheran Princes in Germany.
Some of the alleged “prophets” leading the revolt said the kingdom of God would be established by God’s people taking up the sword, slaying the wicked and establishing righteousness by force. Others said it would be established by a “second commissioning” of apostles and prophets who would go forth with such power, signs and wonders that no one would be able to resist them. Both of these are common themes abound the Charismatic followers of the Christian Nationalist movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation which has become one of the most militant groups supporting Trump. To them, the prophecies of self-appointed “prophets” and “apostles” supersedes the teachings of Jesus or the Bible. Paula White, the senior advisor to Trump’s White House Faith Office is one of the so-called “apostles” and “prophets”.
In fact today, she and a host of other Trump supporting pastors gathered in the Oval Office for a photo-op prayer over him as he bowed his head and occasionally looked up to give a self-congratulatory smile.
In talking with the person today I realized that Luther’s warnings about such people are as applicable today as when Luther preached a series of sermons against them when he returned to Wittenberg after having to flee for his life at the Diet of Worms.
I will summarize some of his message here. Luther said that a schwarmer is proud of his spirituality, has no sense of the distinction between soul and spirit and tends to attribute every thought, feeling and impression to the Spirit of God, loves the limelight and will proclaim sensational visions and prophecies to draw attention to themselves, is unreachable, often have a momentary motive in their “prophetic” words, tends to exalt visions and prophecies over and above God’s word and common sense.
When Donald Trump’s Reich comes crashing down, it is these people who will be the last ones killing the opposition as it burns down, just like Berlin in 1945.
Well, since I have to be up extra early I must bid you adieu, to you and you and you. Until next time, safe and watch your six.
