Since Monday is typically the beginning of the traditional, but now somewhat dated work week, it gets a lot of negativity. Truthfully, since I have never been a morning person, and have frequently been in jobs or assigned to military units where the name of the day didn’t matter as one day faded and a new day dawned, I haven’t really had the aversion to Monday’s that many people do.
That being said, Monday’s, for better or worse are part of the rhythm of life. They are a part of our secular liturgical calendar. While the comic sprit curmudgeon cat, Garfield, plays into the loathing that many have about Monday’s, it really isn’t that different than any other day. Friday’s, which are key in our secular calendar and represent freedom from the work week, are often considered days of bad omen, especially in cultures with a strong maritime tradition, and many Christian cultures, where Friday the 13th is considered bad luck, unless you are the undead whack job, Jason Voorhees, but I digress….
You will see a number of old Blues songs in this list. I find that the Blues are great Monday songs.
There are a lot of great songs that deal with Monday, from many different genres. Here are just some of too many to share, and I need to do some work.
Have a great Monday.
