Mark Carney Bails Out Trump
Before he jetted to Canada for a quickie appearance at the G-7 Summit, but after he was humiliated when the Army Birthday when about 11 million more people showed up at No Kings protests against him than the Army’s 250th birthday parade that he hijacked for his birthday, Trump threatened Democratic run cities with war over immigrants using ICE, DHS, and other Federal Law Enforcement agencies. Of course all of this took place as a big war continued between Israel and Iran that appears to be drawing in the United States. My what an exciting time we live in. But, what me? Worry?
I go to bed tonight with a sense of foreboding for our country and the world and I cannot shake it. I feel darkness enveloping the United States as the President creates the dystopian world that he always wanted, and not just here, but around the world. As I observe events on I am reminded of Barbara Tuchman’s description of Sir Edward Gray on the eve of the First World War, “Watching with his failing eyes, the lamps being lit in St. James Park, Grey was heard to remark that “the lamps are going out all over Europe; we shall not see them again in our lifetime.”
Last week was one of the most important in our nation’s history. Never before has an American President launched the full weight of Federal Police authorities on Americans in a heavy handed crackdown on immigrants, even American citizens, and backed it by sending almost 5,000 National Guardsmen and Marines into Los Angeles. But then there was Saturday, what might be a turning point in Trump’s attempt to overthrow our democracy and create a dictatorship. An estimated 11 million people staged mass protests against Trump on No Kings Day as only about ten to twenty thousand people showed up for a massive parade for the Army Birthday which Trump attempted to commandeer it for propaganda purposes as he did the National Guard and Marines in Los Angeles, the 82nd Airborne Division soldiers in Fort Bragg a couple of days earlier. However, neither the nearly non-existent crowds nor the troops made his day. For most of the parade Trump alternated between looking bored, annoyed, or fighting to stay awake.
Meanwhile on the other side of the world, Israel continued to pound Iran to oblivion while Iran responded with missiles and drones. Israel has established air supremacy over Iran, eliminated its Air Force as a threat, and caused great damage to many of its military installations and other critical infrastructure. In addition, Israeli strikes guided by MOSSAD commandos inside Iran have directed strikes that decapitated much of Iran’s military and Revolutionary Guards high command. Neither side is backing down and Israel is giving signals that not only the elimination of Iran’s nuclear program, but regime change could be their goal. Iran still has sizable numbers of drones and missiles available to attack Israel, or to use against U.S. military installations in the Arabian/Persian Gulf, not to mention Revolutionary Guard Al QUDS commandos who could be used in conjunction with terrorist groups in the region, in Europe, or even the United States.
To add to the situation, American air defense units aided the Israelis in their defense against Iranian attacks. Today the United States dispatched at least 32 Air Force refueling aircraft towards the Middle East, and the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group was diverted from Southeast Asia to the Middle East to reinforce other U.S. Navy units, including the USS Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group. Additional Army Patriot and THAAD air defense units are also being deployed.

These moves could be a deterrent or possibly indicate that the United States could become actively engaged in offensive operations against Iran.
Trump went to the G-7 Summit in Canada where after making a complete fool of himself during his opening remarks defending Vladimir Putin and Russia’s exclusion from the Summit, while making false statements about former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, form President Barack Obama, and his domestic political opponents before the Canadian Prime Minister cut him short to save Trump more embarrassment. What are allies for?
Then this afternoon it was announced that Trump was leaving the Summit early due to the crisis in the Middle East, and had ordered the Cabinet to meet him in the White House Situation Room when he arrived. Before he left Trump urged that Iranians evacuate Tehran. Amidst everything else Trump’s abrupt return raises more questions about what will happen regarding potential American military involvement even as a former Israeli Defense Minister told CNN that the United States has an obligation to help Israel change the Middle East by supporting Israel’s offensive operations against Iran.
Although I can think of a number of ways that the situation at home and overseas could develop, anything I say about what happens next is only speculation, despite my understanding of domestic and international relations.
So, until next time, please be safe and as always, watch your six.
And the 🌮 probably didn’t know that Carney did that. He’s really bad at “reading the room”.
Meanwhile, back on the home computer . . .
Stay tuned. The kitchen sink is backed up!
