On the morning of July 1st, 1861 the troopers of Brigadier General John Buford’s 1st Cavalry Division of the Army of the Potomac fought a superb delaying action against A.P. Hill’s division of Robert E. Lee’s rebel Army of Northern Virginia. Buford’s action enabled Major General John Reynolds to bring his First Corps to Seminary Ridge in time to blind the Confederate advance. Though Reynolds was killed in the opening moments of the engagement directing an counterattack which routed James Archer’s Confederate brigade, his senior division commander, Abner Doubleday led the Corps until under tremendous pressure from Lee’s Second and Third Corps, he was forced to withdraw to Cemetery Hill, where they joined Steinwehr’s Brigade and the Artillery Reserve of Oliver Howard’s Eleventh Corps to create a nearly impregnable position. The shattered remnants of Howard’s other two divisions who were badly outnumbered on open and indefensible ground north of Gettysburg joined them.
So the question becomes how do we regroup and stand our ground?
And the answer requires an analysis of our current position.
The three branches of government have brought us to this impasse, with the judiciary currently taking the offensive, following the lead of the former “head honcho” who is hell-bent on turning back the clock. How do we maintain progress and take back control without violating the very principles we have been defending for 250 years?
Biden’s health is not at issue, at issue is “the health of the nation!”
You are correct. It is difficult to fight when the enemy uses tactics which if we used would violate all that we believe in. The crisis is the country. We have to fight and resist, hopefully Biden or a Democrat wins and we can fight a delaying action until we can get a majority back on the Court to overturn this horrible decision.
