With the establishment of Alligator Auschwitz and the appropriation of 100 billion dollars by Congress to establish concentration camps in Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, the United States is heading to a future that most of us have never imagined just a year ago.
Very powerful. I shared on social media and Substack. You've moved from strong resistance to dissent! Keep it up. The US needs you. Democracies need you.
I am not going to share this until I am able to complete watching the horrifying video. I made it through 10 minutes, and had to stop. Once again, you are doing God's work, showing the frightening parallels to what is happening in the United States in 2025 to what happened in Germany 80+ years ago.
Thank you so much. I fully understand. The film is horrifying. At Nuremberg it shattered many of the Nazis on trial, as well as the judges and the people watching. I have shown it to my students. It made quite the impression on them.
I was curious to learn more about Hjalmar Schacht, the man who refused to turn and look at the video. I was interested to learn that he opposed what Hitler was doing to the Jews, from the start, but was ignored. He even, apparently, was involved in some sort of underground anti-Nazi organization. I wondered if he refused to look because he was in denial about his role in everything. But after I read about him, I think maybe he was enraged about what had happened and with his co-defendants. What are your thoughts?
Schact is an interesting character. He aided Hitler’s rise to power and helped build up Germany’s economy as the Nazis rebuilt the military. He never joined the Nazi Party and did not approve of many of its policies. However, he was compensated greatly for his service. He did have some contacts with the resistance which let to his arrest after the 20 July assassination attempt. He certainly was no Nazi zealot, but his support f the Party before Hitler’s appointment as Chancellor and his early years in power wreaked of using his position with the Nazis for personal gain. He wasn’t convicted at Nuremberg, and while not a war criminal or Nazi he helped paved the way for the Nazi State and its crimes. Please keep reading about him. Lef me know if you need any references.

Thank you. I appreciate those words. I remain in the fight.
